Our Gorge community hosts a high concentration of very talented creators.

We have a unique space for artists to show and sell their work.

We painted a number of walls white and left ‘em blank for this purpose.

CURRENT ARTIST:

Alyssa Eckert

About the Artist:

Alyssa Eckert was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. As a child, her parents encouraged her artistic expression with plenty of paper, markers, and creative medium.

In 2006, Alyssa trained at the Art Institute of Chicago and studied printmaking at Parsons New School and the School of Visual Arts in NYC (2008-2009). Learning the process of etching and engraving influenced her eye for detail, using pointillism to create texture and depth in her work. From 2014-2018 she attended a mystery school for ritual and magical studies, assisted in death and dying retreats, and facilitated ceremonies in nature.

Afterward, Alyssa was drawn by the dramatic landscape of the Columbia River Gorge and a quiet community in Eastern Washington where she now resides. She coordinates programming for an arts & crafts summer camp and focuses on commissions and personal drawings inspired by her relationships with plants, animals and the ecology that surround her home.

Artist Statement:

Alyssa Eckert’s fine ink work draws from the ecosystems of the Pacific Northwest and surrounding areas. The use of naturalism and symbolism create a harmonious narrative that draws the viewer in to the detailed infinite magic of planetary life. Every piece comes out of a unique experience between the artist and her subjects, meant to educate and convey the importance of conserving our interconnected relationships with the natural world.
