AMANDA FOOTE
Head Coach & Youth Program Coordinator
Amanda’s climbing journey started in 2017. Her mom wanted to go on a Mother's Day hike, but the forecast called for rain and Amanda did not wish to get soaked, so they pivoted and went to the climbing gym instead. Amanda got hooked.
Since then, Amanda has fallen deep into the climbing world. She has worked as a competitive youth climbing coach and a routesetter for the past three years, and earned her Level 1 from Molly Beard at the first women/nonbinary routesetting clinic. Her friends call her “Go-Go Gadget Arms” thanks to her reach, but what Amanda loves most about climbing is its accessibility—seeing kids and adults, tall and short, all figuring out the same climb in totally different ways.
Before climbing took over her life (in the best way), Amanda graduated from Washington State University in 2013 with a degree in strategic communications. She worked in both agency and corporate marketing before a quarter-life crisis landed her at the front desk of her home gym. From there, a mix of tenacity, curiosity, and a short stint in middle school teaching led her to join the setting and coaching crew full-time.
Outside the gym, you can find Amanda hanging out with her big boy Ollie (the world's best adventure pup), exploring the outdoors, watching standup and improv, binging DnD content and training to climb V10 outside.
