Sebastian traviesa
Outdoor Guide
Sebastian began climbing in California, developing his foundation on the granite walls of Yosemite and Lake Tahoe. Drawn to adventure climbing and desert crack systems, he later spent several years living in the Utah desert, where he immersed himself in trad climbing and big-wall objectives. Over the years, his climbing has taken him across much of the American West — from long alpine routes in the Wind Rivers to the steep walls of the Black Canyon of the Gunnison, as well as first ascents in Patagonia. With more than a decade of experience, Sebastian is comfortable across a wide range of disciplines including trad climbing, crack climbing, sport climbing, alpine terrain, aid climbing, and bouldering.
Sebastian is an AMGA SPI certified guide and former EMT with experience working in therapeutic outdoor settings. Fluent in English, Spanish, and French, he enjoys helping climbers of all experience levels build confidence outdoors. Having personally overcome a fear of heights through climbing, he is especially passionate about helping others move through fear, challenge themselves, and discover what they’re capable of.
When not climbing, Sebastian spends time skiing, whitewater rafting, canyoneering, and exploring the mountains and desert landscapes of the West. Some of his favorite local climbing areas include Trout Creek, Smith Rock, and Empire Boulders.
